Active West Builder’s signature homes in Meadow Ranch are all Energy Star Certified and 3-rd party verified through Energy-Star. Currently, Active West Builders is the only builder in North Idaho and Washington building on a production-level, homes that are far exceeding Energy Star’s minimum standards for energy efficiency. Active West Builder’s homes are built to the stringent guidelines of the United States Green Building Council’s LEED^® 3rd-party verification certification program. Active West Builders is proud to announce Meadow Ranch as achieving on a production level, the only LEED^® certified homes in Coeur d’Alene and has the first and only LEED^®-Platinum Certified home in the area with many more homes achieving Gold or Platinum status.

ActiveWest Builders creates semi-custom homes in Meadow Ranch as well as custom homes throughout Idaho and Washington. They are also building a state-of-the-art, Energy Star and USGBC LEED^® certified dormitory housing at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington.

Who We Are

Dennis Cunningham

Dennis Cunningham, President of ActiveWest Development & ActiveWestBuilders, has over 20 years of development and land use/urban planning experience as well as real estate, land brokering and entitlement experience.

He served a 2-year term as president for the United States Green Building Council – Idaho Chapter and is still an active board member as well as a West Region Council member for 8 states. This experience coupled with his membership and involvement with the Urban Land Institute and American Planning Association is the foundation behind his recently achieving USGBC LEED^® Platinum & Gold Certifications for homes in his development – Meadow Ranch – an active adult community in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

Through Dennis’ foresight and understanding of urban infill development, Meadow Ranch won the 2009 Idaho Smart Growth and Green Building Award.

Dennis has worked with the California Coastal Commission, U.S. Fish & Wildlife, Department of Fish & Game, and the Army Corps of Engineers. He has designed and built several buildings in Carlsbad, CA ranging from 8,000 sq. ft to 13,000 sq. ft.

He is currently building The GEE in Spokane, WA. This is a CO-ED dormitory housing building for Gonzaga University students.
