- Increase color contrasts. Offset decreasing vision by increasing color contrasts around the vanity counter top. A new light-colored countertop on a dark vanity, or a dark-colored top on a light vanity.
-
Replace smooth, slick flooring with a textured tile. Polished marble is beautiful, but hazardous when wet, especially for balance issues. Replace with a textured tile for more traction or add a floor traction treatment.
-
Remove steps in front of tubs. They are high-risk slip hazards! One of three Americans 65+ will suffer a fall and many will not be able to return home. Improve your risk factor by eliminating potential problem areas.
